A natural internal deodorant
Nature provides humans with therapeutic ingredients for many health problems. It even provides a substance that can help naturally deodorize the body. Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in plants and algae. It allows plants to absorb sunlight, which is then used in the plant's photosynthesis process to convert light energy into chemical energy. Chlorophyll has been shown to be not only essential for plant life, but also beneficial for human health. To take advantage of the benefits of chlorophyll, supplements containing the sodium-copper derivative of chlorophyll have been developed for human use. Typically, this chlorophyll comes in liquid or capsule form. The sodium-copper derivative of chlorophyll is water-soluble, which makes it more absorbable than chlorophyll itself.
A US study published in 1980 looked at the benefits of chlorophyll in hospitalized geriatric patients. Patients received 100 mg of chlorophyll in the form of chlorophyllin daily. After two weeks, it was found that chlorophyllin helped control body and fecal odors.1 Patients also reported a decrease in chronic constipation and flatulence. A decrease in urine odor was also noted. Based on these observations, chlorophyllin is often recommended to patients who have undergone a colostomy or suffer from incontinence, to reduce odors.2
An earlier observational study by Dr. Frank Westcott in the 1950s suggested that chlorophyll could be beneficial in reducing bad breath and body odor.3
It is also believed that chlorophyll may have detoxifying properties. Chlorophyll has also been shown to be a more powerful antioxidant than beta-carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E.4
If you want to "freshen up," take a chlorophyll supplement of more than 100 mg per dose. Choose a clean source of chlorophyll from non-GMO alfalfa extracted using supercritical heat-free processes. Liquid chlorophyll can be consumed diluted in water, fruit juice, a smoothie, or yogurt.
