Consommez-vous assez de calcium?

Dairy products are not necessarily the ideal source of calcium for everyone, but it is important to consume enough calcium for so many reasons!

Calcium contributes to the health of your teeth. We bet you're ready to sink your teeth into this news! As for your ability to continue doing pliés, your calcium intake can reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Of course, calcium must be combined with enough magnesium, vitamin D, a healthy diet, and exercise. That's right, you might want to start doing bicep curls with your milk cartons or yogurt containers.

Joking aside, this is important - In Canada, 25 percent of women and 12 percent of men over 50 suffer from osteoporosis. Whoa!

But before you grab any calcium supplement, know that not all supplements are of equal quality. According to a study by the University of Auckland, high-dose calcium-only supplements may be associated with an increased incidence of heart attacks. However, dietary sources of calcium do not seem to raise the same concerns.

Red algae, Lithothamnion calcareum, are a dairy-free and sustainable food source of calcium. They are packed with bone-healthy nutrients! They contain over 30 percent elemental calcium, as well as magnesium and over 70 other trace minerals. You will find these red algae under the name AquaminMC. AquaminMC has been extensively studied. In a study conducted at the University of Michigan, researchers found that AquaminMC preserved bone structure and function in a group of rats on a Western diet. This is excellent news for aging bones!

Before you head off to do some pliés on the coast in search of red algae in the sea, know that they are available at your local Health First store. Health First Cal Mag Supreme tablets contain AquaminMC. They also contain vitamin D3. A study published in 2014 indicates that the bone tissue reformation and regeneration offered by AquaminMC were further enhanced in the presence of vitamin D3. You guessed it, Health First Cal Mag Supreme was created with all this recent research in mind. Health First Cal Mag Supreme also contains other minerals and is also available with vitamin K2, which helps the body use calcium in the bones to prevent artery calcification.

Keep smiling! Keep dancing! Age well!
